Chennai: In a significant development, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has announced a major reshuffle of his cabinet, which saw several key portfolios being reallocated to new ministers.

P.T.R. Palanivel Thiagarajan, who was the Finance Minister of the state, has been shifted to the Information Technology department. In his place, K.N. Nehru, who was the Minister for Municipal Administration and Water Supply, has been given additional charge of the Finance department.

Thangam Thennarasu, who was the Minister for Industries, has been moved to the Finance department as well. His position in the Industries department has been taken over by T.K. Rajaa, who was earlier the Minister for Rural Industries.

The Chief Minister’s office stated that the reshuffle was done with the aim of strengthening the administration and improving the governance in the state. The move is also seen as an attempt to boost the performance of the government ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections.

Palanivel Thiagarajan, who has been shifted to the IT department, is known for his expertise in finance and economic matters. He is expected to bring his expertise to the IT department, which has been given a significant boost in recent years with the establishment of several new technology parks and other initiatives.

K.N. Nehru, who has taken over as the Finance Minister, has a long and distinguished career in public service. He has held several key positions in the government, including that of the Minister for Rural Development, Panchayat Raj and Local Administration.

Thangam Thennarasu, who has been moved to the Finance department, is known for his focus on the development of the industrial sector in the state. The victims have been identified as 40-year-old Nagesh, 17-year-old Bharat, 32-year-old Guru, and 16-year-old Mahadev, all hailing from Mysore. Currently, the bodies of two individuals have been recovered, while efforts persist in locating the remaining two.

The group, consisting of 40 individuals, had embarked on a trip from Mysore to Muttathi in Malavalli taluk, traveling together in a single bus. Amidst the excursion, four members of the group decided to go for a swim in the Kaveri river. Tragically, one of them encountered difficulties while swimming and drowned. In a valiant attempt to rescue their friend, three others ventured into the water, only to meet a similar fate.
