Bengaluru: Namma Clinics are set to revolutionize the healthcare sector in urban areas of the state with the launch of 108 clinics in BBMP limits. The launch will be presided over by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Health and Medical Education Minister K. Sudhakar. The inauguration will take place at the Namma Clinic in Mahalakshmipura ward of Mahalakshmi Layout, with the rest of the 107 clinics also being launched simultaneously.

Namma Clinics are aimed at providing comprehensive primary healthcare to the poor, the vulnerable and underprivileged sections in urban areas. The clinics will serve as urban health and wellness centers and provide preventive and primary care services to daily wagers, labourers and other such sections of society. The launch of these 108 clinics is a step towards achieving the goal of 438 Namma Clinics, 243 of which will be located in BBMP limits and the rest in other districts.

Under the National Urban Health Mission, there is currently one primary health center for every 50,000 people. However, with the grants from the 15th Finance Commission, the state is now establishing one primary health center for every 15,000 to 20,000 people in urban areas. The referral facilities available at these clinics will make it easier for patients requiring higher treatment to be referred to secondary and tertiary centers, thus reducing the cost of treatment and decentralizing healthcare services.

Each Namma Clinic will have a doctor, nursing staff, lab technician and D group worker. The clinics will offer a range of healthcare services including ante-natal and post-natal care, adolescent care, immunisation, family planning, fertility, communicable diseases management, general and minor injuries, preventive care for NCDs, oral care, eye care, ENT, mental health, geriatric care and laboratory services. In addition, tele-consultation, wellness activities like yoga and referral services will also be available.

The launch of these 108 Namma Clinics is a significant milestone in the healthcare sector and will go a long way in providing quality and affordable healthcare to the people of the state. With its focus on preventive and primary care, the clinics are expected to play a key role in ensuring the health and wellness of the urban population.

In conclusion, the launch of the Namma Clinics marks a new era in the healthcare sector and will provide a much-needed boost to the healthcare infrastructure in urban areas. With its comprehensive range of services and focus on preventive care, these clinics are set to improve the health and well-being of the people and make healthcare accessible to all.
