Jalandhar: The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully intercepted four Pakistani drones along the International Border in Punjab, shooting down three of them in separate incidents within a span of 24 hours, according to a spokesperson from the force.

On Friday night, the BSF thwarted three drone incursions, while the fourth drone was shot down on Saturday night.

The initial interception took place in Udhar Dhariwal village, Amritsar district, where a black quadcopter identified as “DJI Matrice 300 RTK” was recovered. BSF troops managed to intercept the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) by firing at around 9 pm on Friday.

Shortly after, in Rattan Khurd village, Amritsar district, a quadcopter of the same make was intercepted and recovered. In addition, two packets containing approximately 2.6 kg of suspected heroin were found attached to the UAV.

During the third interception, which occurred on Friday night, the drone fell on the Pakistani side and could not be retrieved by the BSF. CCTV footage revealed individuals from the Pakistan side collecting the fallen drone.

On Saturday night, the fourth drone violated Indian airspace in the jurisdiction of the Amritsar sector. It was subsequently intercepted by BSF firing, and a bag of suspected narcotics along with the drone were recovered.

The interception and neutralization of these drones highlight the BSF’s commitment to maintaining border security and preventing illicit activities. The recovered narcotics serve as evidence of the drones’ involvement in smuggling operations.

Further investigation is underway to determine the intent behind these drone incursions and the network facilitating their operations. The BSF remains vigilant and prepared to counter any potential threats along the International Border.

In recent developments, political figures in Maharashtra have advocated for the removal of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb, situated in Khuldabad, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. Udayanraje Bhosale, a descendant of Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament, labeled Aurangzeb a “thief and looter,” urging authorities to demolish the tomb.

Maharashtra CM also in favor of Aurangzeb’s Tomb Removal

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis echoed this sentiment, expressing support for the tomb’s removal but emphasizing adherence to legal protocols. He noted that the site is under the protection of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), a designation made during a previous Congress-led administration. Fadnavis stated, “We all also want the same thing, but you need to do it within the framework of the law, because it is a protected site.”

In response to these calls, Maharashtra police have heightened security measures around the tomb to prevent potential unrest. The site is now under increased surveillance, with visitors required to present identification and adhere to stricter protocols.

This controversy underscores ongoing debates about historical narratives and cultural heritage in India, reflecting the complexities of addressing historical figures’ legacies within contemporary society.
