The sexual abuse case against Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna has become a hotbed of controversy, with new twists and turns emerging daily. On Friday, BJP leader and advocate G Devarajegowda, currently in custody following his arrest in a sexual abuse case, made explosive allegations against several high-profile politicians. He claimed that Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and four other ministers were behind the circulation of a pen drive containing compromising videos.

Allegations by G Devarajegowda

While being escorted to district prisons in Hassan, after his police custody ended, Devarajegowda addressed reporters and leveled serious accusations. He alleged that a significant bribe was offered to implicate H D Kumaraswamy, former Chief Minister, in the scandal involving Prajwal Revanna.

The Bribe Allegation

Devarajegowda claimed he was offered Rs 100 crore to falsely accuse H D Kumaraswamy of being behind the pen drive scandal. According to Devarajegowda, the offer came from D K Shivakumar, facilitated through ministers N Chaluvarayaswamy, Krishna Byregowda, Priyank Kharge, and another unnamed minister. He further alleged that Rs 5 crore was advanced to Bowring Club as a part of this deal, which he refused, leading to a conspiracy against him.

The Role of D K Shivakumar

Devarajegowda went on to allege that D K Shivakumar orchestrated the entire scheme. He accused Shivakumar of gathering information from Prajwal Revanna’s former driver, Karthik, and preparing the controversial pen drives. A dedicated team of ministers was supposedly formed to manage the dissemination of these videos. Devarajegowda believes that his refusal to cooperate led to the current allegations and legal troubles he faces.

Political Motives and Allegations

According to Devarajegowda, the primary motive behind this plot was to tarnish the reputations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP, and H D Kumaraswamy. He accused Shivakumar of trying to undermine Kumaraswamy’s leadership in Karnataka and to create a scandal that would damage the BJP’s standing.

Counterclaims and Defense

Devarajegowda vehemently denied the sexual harassment and rape charges against him, asserting that no evidence was found to support these claims. He suggested that his current predicament is a result of political maneuvering rather than any criminal wrongdoing on his part.

The Involvement of M A Gopalaswamy

In his statements, Devarajegowda also implicated former MLC M A Gopalaswamy of Channarayapatna, who he claimed was sent to negotiate on behalf of Shivakumar’s faction. This negotiation, according to Devarajegowda, was part of the broader strategy to discredit the BJP and its leaders.

The Bigger Picture

The allegations made by Devarajegowda add another layer of complexity to an already intricate case. The involvement of high-profile politicians and the alleged use of sleaze videos as a political weapon highlight the murky depths of political rivalries in Karnataka. As the case continues to unfold, it underscores the intense and often controversial nature of political battles in the region.

Public Reaction and Media Coverage

The public and media have been closely following the developments in this case. Each new allegation and counter-allegation fuels further speculation and discussion, drawing significant attention from across the political spectrum. The sensational nature of the claims ensures that this case will remain in the headlines for the foreseeable future.

Conclusion

The sexual abuse case against Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna has evolved into a significant political scandal, with far-reaching implications. The allegations made by G Devarajegowda, if proven true, suggest a deliberate attempt to manipulate political narratives and discredit key figures. As investigations continue, the truth behind these explosive claims will hopefully be unveiled, shedding light on the intricate dynamics of Karnataka’s political landscape.

The weather took a tumultuous turn across various parts of Subrahmanya, Sullia, Kadaba, and Beltnangady taluks, as heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunder unleashed its fury on Wednesday evening. Particularly, Belthangady taluk bore the brunt of this severe weather, experiencing relentless rain coupled with flashes of lightning and deafening thunder.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast, warning of light to moderate rainfall across Coastal and South Interior Karnataka. Additionally, thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds ranging from 40-50 kmph are anticipated.
