Mandya: The Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway has been the talk of the town in recent days as pictures of the newly constructed highway went viral on social media. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the people in a convention held in Gejjalagere Colony of Mandya District, Maddur Taluk, where he spoke about the project and its significance.

The Prime Minister expressed his pride in seeing the youth take great pride in the development of the nation through such projects. He also highlighted the potential for prosperity and development that the project will bring to the region.

PM Modi started his speech in Kannada and conveyed his gratitude to the people of Karnataka for their support towards the development of the state. He emphasized the government’s commitment to pay back the love debt with interest.

The Prime Minister spoke about the Mysore-Kushalanagar 4 lane road, which has been completed with the foundation stone laid for Dashpath highway. He acknowledged the contribution of great men like Krishnaraja Wodeyar and Sir M. Visvesvaraya to the nation.

He also mentioned that more than 1 lakh crores have been released to Karnataka in a year and the state has seen an unprecedented highway constructed as a result of the hard work and penance of its people.

Union Land Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari also spoke at the public meeting and described the event as a historic day in the history of Karnataka. He highlighted the construction of the elevated highway and its connection to Tamil Nadu in the near future.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway at a cost of 8,479 crores. The expressway is 118 km long and is set to contribute significantly to the growth of the region.

The development of the highway is also expected to benefit the tourism sector in the region. The Prime Minister spoke about the government’s commitment to the welfare of the poor and criticized the Congress for looting crores of money in a scheme named after the poor.

On Thursday, yet another sighting of a suspected Naxalite was reported from a heavily wooded area within the forest. Eyewitness accounts from a worker in the rubber plantation suggest the presence of an unfamiliar woman in the vicinity, igniting efforts to locate her amidst the dense foliage.

The ANF has wasted no time in responding to these reports, deploying teams to conduct thorough searches across the Ainekidu and Koojimale estate areas. Sources within the ANF have hinted at the possibility of lingering Naxalite presence along the fringes of the Pushpagiri forest sanctuary, underscoring the importance of vigilance in this region.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made significant progress in the investigation into the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast at the Rameshwaram cafe in Bengaluru’s Brookfield. On March 1, Muzammil Shareef, identified as a key conspirator, was apprehended by NIA teams during crackdowns at 18 locations across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.

Muzammil Shareef’s arrest comes after NIA took over the case on March 3, following initial investigations by Bengaluru’s Central Crime Branch (CCB). The blast, carried out by the main accused Mussavir Shazeeb Hussain, resulted in severe injuries to several customers and staff members, causing extensive damage to the property.

NIA’s investigations have unveiled Muzammil Shareef’s role in providing logistic support to the prime accused and another conspirator, Abdul Matheen Taha. While Hussain and Taha remain at large, NIA’s efforts continue to bring them to justice.

The blast, triggered by an IED, necessitated a swift and thorough investigation by NIA to ensure accountability and prevent further threats to public safety. A tragic incident shook the town of Mandya when four youths lost their lives while swimming in the Cauvery river. The unfortunate incident occurred in Muttathi, located in the Malavalli taluk of Mandya district.

The victims have been identified as 40-year-old Nagesh, 17-year-old Bharat, 32-year-old Guru, and 16-year-old Mahadev, all hailing from Mysore. Currently, the bodies of two individuals have been recovered, while efforts persist in locating the remaining two.

The group, consisting of 40 individuals, had embarked on a trip from Mysore to Muttathi in Malavalli taluk, traveling together in a single bus. Amidst the excursion, four members of the group decided to go for a swim in the Kaveri river. Tragically, one of them encountered difficulties while swimming and drowned. In a valiant attempt to rescue their friend, three others ventured into the water, only to meet a similar fate.

As the community mourns this devastating loss, rescue teams continue their tireless efforts to locate the missing bodies. The incident serves as a poignant reminder of the dangers associated with water activities, underscoring the importance of safety measures and vigilance.
