“Rahul Gandhi Alleges India’s Foreign Policy Aligned with Interests of Gautam Adani”
Rahul Gandhi alleged that Adani has secured 90% of the defence deals between India and Israel after a single visit by Prime Minister Modi to that country.
New Delhi : Rahul Gandhi, a leader of the Indian National Congress, has made a strong statement in Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian parliament, alleging that the foreign policy of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is aligned with the interests of the billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani. He claimed that Adani has secured a large number of contracts in various foreign countries after the visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Gandhi alleged that Adani has secured 90% of the defence deals between India and Israel after a single visit by Prime Minister Modi to that country. He also mentioned the examples of Australia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to claim that Adani has secured contracts in these countries after the visits of Prime Minister Modi.
The Congress leader mentioned the visit of Prime Minister Modi to Bangladesh and claimed that a decision was taken to sell electricity to Bangladesh, and soon after, the Bangladesh Power Development Board signed a 25-year contract with Adani. He also referred to Sri Lanka and claimed that the Chairman of Ceylon electricity board informed a parliamentary hearing that President Rajapaksa told him that Prime Minister Modi “pressured” him to give the wind power contract to Adani.
“So this summarises your foreign policy. This is not India’s foreign policy. This is Mr Adani’s foreign policy, a policy to enhance his businesses,” Gandhi said in the parliament.
Gandhi’s allegations have sparked a new debate in the country about the relationship between politics and business. He called for a study by Harvard University to investigate the relationship between politics and business in India, and claimed that Prime Minister Modi should receive a gold medal in this regard.
In conclusion, Gandhi’s statement in the parliament has once again brought the issue of crony capitalism to the forefront of the Indian political discourse. The allegations made by Gandhi raise serious questions about the role of big businesses in the Indian political system and the impact of their influence on the country’s foreign policy. The statement is likely to spark further discussions and debates in the coming days, as people demand answers to these critical questions.
