The Hollywood Critics Association Awards held in Los Angeles on Sunday witnessed a grand celebration of the finest cinematic talent across the globe. One film that stood out among the rest was SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which bagged four big awards, including Best International Film.

The film’s director, SS Rajamouli, and lead actor, Ram Charan, graced the event and received the awards on behalf of the team. However, the absence of Jr NTR, who plays one of the lead roles in the movie, was a surprise to many fans and critics.

To put all speculations to rest, The Hollywood Critics Association released a statement on Tuesday morning, clarifying that Jr NTR was invited to attend the event but couldn’t make it due to his ongoing shooting commitments for another project in India.

The Hollywood Critics Association’s statement read, “Dear RRR fans and supporters, We did invite N T Rama Rao Jr. to attend the HCA Film Awards but he is shooting a new film in India. He will be receiving his awards from us shortly. Thank you for all your love and support. Sincerely, The Hollywood Critics Association.”

Despite Jr NTR’s absence, RRR managed to sweep the awards with its outstanding performances and exceptional technical prowess. The film won Best Action Film, Best Stunts, and Best Original Song for the Oscar-nominated track, Naatu Naatu.

Set in the 1920s, RRR is a fictional story based on the lives of two legendary freedom fighters – Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem. The film’s international acclaim can be attributed to its stunning visuals, powerful performances, and the soulful music composed by MM Keeravani.

One of the film’s tracks, Naatu Naatu, has become a sensation among music lovers and has been nominated for the Oscars this year. At the Critics Choice Awards held earlier this year, RRR won two awards – Best Foreign Language Film and Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu. The song also won the Best Song at the 80th Golden Globe Awards last month.

The global recognition and accolades received by RRR are a testament to the talent and vision of SS Rajamouli and his team. The film has set new benchmarks in Indian cinema and has paved the way for more such path-breaking films to emerge from the country.

Actor Dhanush can breathe a sigh of relief following a recent Supreme Court decision to dismiss an appeal lodged by a private complainant. The appeal sought action against the actor regarding posters from the 2014 Tamil film ‘Velaiyilla Pattathari,’ where Dhanush is depicted smoking a cigarette.

The private complainant contended that the advertisement indirectly or directly endorsed the use or consumption of cigarettes. However, a two-judge bench, presided over by Justice A S Oka and including Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, rejected the appeal after scrutinizing the relevant materials and records in the case.

The bench asserted that subsection (1) of section 5 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003, was not applicable in this instance, leading to the dismissal of the Special Leave Petition (SLP).

Moreover, the Apex Court declined to intervene in the Madras High Court’s prior decision on July 10 of the preceding year. The Madras High Court had quashed criminal proceedings against Dhanush and others in connection with the ‘Velaiyilla Pattathari’ posters depicting the actor smoking a cigarette.

Following the rejection of the private complainant’s petition by the Madras High Court, the matter was escalated to the Supreme Court for further review, culminating in the recent dismissal of the appeal.

Lal Salaam: Megastar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated film Lal Salaam has unveiled its first look, creating a buzz among fans. The actor, known for his charismatic on-screen presence, is set to make an extended cameo appearance in the movie.

The recently released poster showcases Rajinikanth in the role of Moideen Bhai, depicting a tense situation amidst a communal riot in Bombay (now Mumbai) during the tumultuous year of 1993. Presented in both English and Tamil languages, the poster refers to Rajinikanth as “everyone’s favourite Bhai,” emphasizing his popularity and appeal.

Drawing from the captivating first-look poster, it appears that Rajinikanth might portray a Mumbai-based underworld don, a character archetype he has portrayed with immense success in the past. Notably, the movie marks a significant milestone as it marks the first-ever collaboration between Aishwarya Rajinikanth and acclaimed music composer AR Rahman, who will be lending his musical prowess to the film.

Reports suggest that Lal Salaam intertwines elements of sports drama with political themes, offering a thought-provoking narrative. The film was officially launched through a traditional pooja ceremony on November 5 last year, with Aishwarya expressing her gratitude and excitement on Twitter, stating, “When your FATHER trusts in you… When you believe GOD is by you.
