The Hollywood Critics Association Awards held in Los Angeles on Sunday witnessed a grand celebration of the finest cinematic talent across the globe. One film that stood out among the rest was SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which bagged four big awards, including Best International Film.

The film’s director, SS Rajamouli, and lead actor, Ram Charan, graced the event and received the awards on behalf of the team. However, the absence of Jr NTR, who plays one of the lead roles in the movie, was a surprise to many fans and critics.

To put all speculations to rest, The Hollywood Critics Association released a statement on Tuesday morning, clarifying that Jr NTR was invited to attend the event but couldn’t make it due to his ongoing shooting commitments for another project in India.

The Hollywood Critics Association’s statement read, “Dear RRR fans and supporters, We did invite N T Rama Rao Jr. to attend the HCA Film Awards but he is shooting a new film in India. He will be receiving his awards from us shortly. Thank you for all your love and support. Sincerely, The Hollywood Critics Association.”

Despite Jr NTR’s absence, RRR managed to sweep the awards with its outstanding performances and exceptional technical prowess. The film won Best Action Film, Best Stunts, and Best Original Song for the Oscar-nominated track, Naatu Naatu.

Set in the 1920s, RRR is a fictional story based on the lives of two legendary freedom fighters – Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem. The film’s international acclaim can be attributed to its stunning visuals, powerful performances, and the soulful music composed by MM Keeravani.

One of the film’s tracks, Naatu Naatu, has become a sensation among music lovers and has been nominated for the Oscars this year. At the Critics Choice Awards held earlier this year, RRR won two awards – Best Foreign Language Film and Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu. The song also won the Best Song at the 80th Golden Globe Awards last month.

The global recognition and accolades received by RRR are a testament to the talent and vision of SS Rajamouli and his team. The film has set new benchmarks in Indian cinema and has paved the way for more such path-breaking films to emerge from the country.
