Yogathon 2023 – Yogathon celebration in different parts of the state

The program was organized at Mudbidri as per the instructions given by the state government to celebrate Yogathon in the entire state under the National Youth Festival organized at Hubli.

Mudbidri: 27,632 yogis simultaneously performed various yogasanas on the same ground in the Yogathon 2023'' with the themeYouth for Yoga” on Sunday at Moodubire in Dakshina Kannada district.

As a part of the 26th National Youth Festival as directed by the state government, this program was held in different parts of the state including the state capital Bangalore, Bagalkote, Mysore, Belgaum, Davangere, Madikeri, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Haveri, Shimoga. While 15 thousand yogis participated in the yogathon held in Bagalkote, 12 thousand yogis simultaneously participated in the program held at the district stadium in Haveri.

Mrs. Vanajakshi K. is a graduate of Puttige in Mudubidire of Dakshina Kannada district. It was held at Sripati Bhatt Bayalu Theater. The event was organized under the auspices of Dakshina Kannada District Administration, JPM, Department of Kannada and Culture, Department of Youth Services and Sports and Alvas Education Foundation in the context of Guinness World Record attempt.

27,632 people including students of various educational institutions of Dakshina Kannada district and students of Alvas educational institution participated in the yogathon which lasted for about 45 minutes.

Along with Pranayama, many asanas such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Pada Hastasana, Trikonasana, Vajrasana, Shashankasana, Ardha Vrishtasana, Purna Vrishtasana, Utthana Mandukasana, Dandasana, Vakrasana were performed.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dakshina Kannada District Collector Ravikumar MR said that India is the country that has spread the importance of yoga and its benefits to the whole world. He said that it is a matter of happiness that a unique festival promoting the importance of yoga is being organized in Karnataka through Yogathon.

Ananthakrishna, a student of Alvas College of Naturopathy and Yogic Science, guided the students. MLA Umanatha Kotyan, Swastishri Bhattarak Charukeerthi Swamiji of Moodbidire Jain Math, D.K. GPAM CEO Dr. Dr. Kumar, President of Alvas Education Foundation. M. Mohan Alva, Associate Director of Youth and Civil Service Department Ravi Nayka, Moodbidire Municipal Chairman Prasad Kumar, Trustee Vivek Alva, Alvas Naturopathy College Pridhinsidhipadhil Dr. Vanitha Shetty and others were present.

Bengaluru: The single-member bench of the Karnataka High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by MLA Madal Virupakshappa from Channagiri constituency in Davangere district, who is the main accused in the bribery case, and the fear of arrest has started again for BJP MLAs.

A single member bench of the Karnataka High Court on Monday dismissed the anticipatory bail application filed by Madal Virupakshappa in connection with the bribery case. As a result, Virupakshappa faces the threat of arrest.

Madal’s son Prashant Madal was caught by Lokayukta police while accepting bribe. Later, the Lokayukta attack also took place on Davanagere residence of Madal Virupakshappa. There too crores of Rs. Cash was found. Later, Madal Virupakshappa, who went missing, appeared in public after getting bail. There was strong opposition to the hasty grant of bail to him. A letter was also written to the CJI.

Madal’s son Prashant, the Chief Accountant of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, is accused of demanding bribes for awarding a tender for the supply of regular raw materials for Karnataka soap and detergent. During the Lokayukta raid, 2 thousand rupees were found in 3 bags at Virupakshappa’s office on Crescent Road, Bangalore. And Rs 500 currency notes were found.

Belagavi: A stray dog attacked 8 people in the border district of Belagavi and people are cursing against the corporation officials.

A stray dog suddenly turned violent and bit more than eight people on Mandoli Road in Dwarka city of Belagavi on Saturday afternoon. A tense situation has developed at the impact site.

The Belagavi Municipal Corporation officials were informed about the dog attack and the team of experts assigned by the Municipal Corporation to catch the stray dog succeeded in catching it the same evening.

According to Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) sources, the dog was said to be suffering from rabies. All the injured have been told to get anti-rabies vaccine. Animal Husbandry Department officials said that the infected dog has been kept in a cage at a shelter in Srinagar.

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court, hearing a case filed by IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri, on Friday ordered registration of a criminal defamation case against IPS officer D Rupa Moudgil and issued summons to Rupa.

The 24th Additional Metropolitan Magistrate BC Chandrasekhar, who heard the private complaint filed against Roopa by IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri, ordered the registration of a criminal case under IPC Section 500 and adjourned the hearing to April 26.

“There are sufficient documents to proceed with the proceedings against the accused Roopa. Therefore, it is necessary to file a criminal case against him and proceed with the process,” the court opined in its order.

“Durudare Rohini Sindhuri filed a self-statement and submitted seven additional documents to the court. Documents 1-3 are the screenshot of Roopa’s Facebook post, the fourth document is the CD of the posts and the sixth document is the certificate under Section 65(b) of the Indian Evidence Act. The seventh document is in the form of the front page of the Kannada Prabha newspaper in which the allegations made by the accused have been published. On checking these, the accused Roopa accused Rohini of defamation on Facebook and print media. If the allegations made by the accused are not true, it will harm the dignity of the complainant,” explained the order.

“The allegations made by the accused Roopa as contained in documents 1-7 fall under IPC Section 499. This is an offense under IPC Section 500,” the court explained in the order.

D. Rupa Moudgil has made a vulgar allegation against me on 18th and 19th February 2023 on her Facebook account. He has also made a statement in the electronic media. Those allegations are damaging to my personality. Rupa has committed this act with the malicious intention of killing me. Rohini Sindhuri filed a private complaint on March 3, alleging that it has seriously affected my personal, social and professional life and caused mental anguish.

Also, D Rupa should pay one crore rupees as compensation for defamation and causing mental anguish. They demanded that appropriate punitive action should be taken against them.
