Peshawar: A 34-year-old Indian woman named Anju, mother of two children, tied the knot with her 29-year-old Pakistani Facebook friend, Nasrullah, in a remote village in Pakistan’s Upper Dir district on Tuesday. The heartwarming tale of their friendship that began on social media in 2019 culminated in a local court marriage after Anju converted to Islam and assumed the name Fatima.

The wedding ceremony took place in the presence of family members, police personnel, and lawyers, with tight security measures in place. Senior officer Muhammad Wahab from the Moharrar City Police Station in Upper Dir confirmed the solemnization of the marriage through a proper nikkah ceremony.

According to Deputy Inspector General Nasir Mehmood Satti of Malakand Division, Anju’s conversion to Islam was a personal choice, and she has expressed her happiness in Pakistan. After completing the legal formalities, she was escorted back home by the police for safety.

Prior to their marriage, the couple enjoyed a sightseeing trip, visiting the Lawari tunnel that connects Dir Upper District with Chitral District. Photos from the trip depict Anju and Nasrullah sitting together in a lush green garden, holding hands, and enjoying each other’s company.

In a video shared before her wedding, Anju clarified that her journey to Pakistan was well-planned and legal, and she feels safe in her new home. She also requested the media not to harass her relatives and children in India.

Anju, originally from Kailor village in Uttar Pradesh, India, had been residing in the Alwar district of Rajasthan with her husband, Arvind. The couple has a 15-year-old daughter and a six-year-old son. Anju’s departure to Pakistan was facilitated through a 30-day visa issued for Upper Dir, as per the official documents from the Ministry of Interior.

Nasrullah, a science graduate from a university in Sheringal, is the youngest among five brothers. He has provided an affidavit to local authorities, stating that their relationship is based on genuine friendship, and Anju plans to return to India on August 20.

Anju’s husband, Arvind, expressed hope that she would come back home soon after her unique adventure. This cross-border love story strikingly resembles the case of Seema Ghulam Haider, a Pakistani mother of four, who entered India to live with her Hindu friend Sachin Meena after meeting him while playing PUBG in 2019.

The heartwarming tale of Anju and Nasrullah has captured the attention of many, showcasing the power of friendship and love that transcends borders and cultural barriers.

Supreme Court to Review Kolkata Doctor’s Rape and Murder Case on March 17
Supreme Court of India

The Supreme Court of India, under the leadership of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, is scheduled to review the suo motu case concerning the rape and murder of a junior doctor from R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on March 17.

In August of the previous year, the Court addressed the tragic incident, emphasizing the critical need for enhanced safety measures for medical professionals nationwide. The Bench appealed to protesting doctors to resume their duties, assuring them of protection against any punitive actions related to their participation in the protests.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been actively probing the case. In October, they filed the initial charge sheet against Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer associated with Kolkata Police, implicating him in the heinous crime. The CBI‘s investigation suggests a potential broader conspiracy, highlighting concerns about evidence tampering during the early stages when the Kolkata Police were overseeing the investigation. Subsequently, two additional arrests were made: Sandip Ghosh, the former Principal of R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, and Abhijit Mondal, the former Station House Officer of Tala Police Station. Both are accused of obstructing the investigation and tampering with evidence.

The upcoming hearing on March 17 will further address these developments, underscoring the Supreme Court‘s commitment to ensuring justice and reinforcing workplace safety for medical professionals across the country.

Note: For a comprehensive understanding, readers are encouraged to refer to official Supreme Court records and updates from the Central Bureau of Investigation.
