Bhopal: Two Indian Air Force fighter jets, a Sukhoi Su-30 and a Mirage 2000, have crashed in Madhya Pradesh during a training exercise. Defence sources have confirmed that the Su-30 had two pilots and the Mirage 2000 had one pilot.

Thankfully, the two pilots from the Su-30 were able to eject and are currently safe. However, search and rescue operations are currently underway for the third pilot.

Both fighter jets had taken off from the Gwalior Air Force base prior to the crash. Videos of the scene, taken by locals in Morena, show debris of the aircraft scattered on the ground.

The Indian Air Force has launched an investigation to determine if a mid-air collision led to the crash. Defence sources have stated that an IAF court of inquiry has been established to establish the cause of the crash.

Initial reports suggest that the two pilots of the Su-30 are safe and an IAF chopper is on its way to reach the location of the third pilot.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has been briefed by the Indian Air Force chief on the crash of the two aircraft, according to news agency PTI.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has expressed his sadness over the news of the crash. He has instructed local authorities to cooperate with the Air Force in quick rescue and relief work and has prayed for the safety of the pilots.

The Sukhoi Su-30 is a twin-engine, two-seat fighter jet that is known for its advanced avionics, long range and heavy payload capabilities. The Mirage 2000 is a single-engine, fourth-generation jet fighter that is known for its high maneuverability and multirole capabilities.

Training exercises are a crucial aspect of the Indian Air Force’s operations, as it helps pilots to maintain their proficiency and readiness for any potential conflict. However, such incidents highlight the inherent risks that come with military aviation.

The Indian Air Force will continue to investigate the cause of the crash and take necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The thoughts and prayers of the nation are with the families of the pilots and the ongoing search and rescue operations.

In a recent development, HD Revanna, a prominent figure in the JD(S) party and a former minister, has sought anticipatory bail in connection with an ongoing case involving an obscene video allegedly linked to his son, Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. The case, which has garnered significant attention, has prompted Revanna to take legal action to safeguard his interests.

The matter was brought before the MP/MLA special court, where the presiding officer adjourned the hearing to allow time for the filing of objections by the Special Public Prosecutor. Revanna, who represents the Holenarasipura constituency, finds himself named as accused number 1 in the case, which was registered by the Holenarasipura Town police. The police have invoked several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 354A, 354D, 506, and 509, against the accused.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) handling the case issued notices under section 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), summoning both HD Revanna and Prajwal Revanna to appear before the investigating officer for questioning. However, Prajwal Revanna, reportedly abroad, has requested a seven-day extension.

During the court proceedings, the presiding officer questioned why the matter was not being addressed in the trial court, considering the alleged offenses are bailable. Senior Counsel Murthy D Naik, representing the petitioner, argued that they had filed an interim bail application alongside the petition.

It was highlighted that although the offenses against the petitioner are bailable, the investigating agency sought permission from the competent jurisdictional court to invoke IPC section 376, which deals with rape allegations.

At this stage, the court acknowledged the appointment of a Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) for the case. The SPP was requested to take notice for the respondent, and the petitioners were permitted to serve a copy to him. Any objections were scheduled to be addressed on 03.05.2024.

The move by HD Revanna to seek anticipatory bail underscores the gravity of the situation, as the case continues to unfold amidst public scrutiny. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.

In a dramatic turn of events, senior JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar have become embroiled in a bitter war of words over an alleged sex scandal rocking Karnataka politics. The scandal centers around Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and nephew of Kumaraswamy, sending shockwaves through the state’s political landscape.

Kumaraswamy, JD(S)’s second-in-command, leveled serious accusations against Shivakumar, claiming that the latter orchestrated the circulation of incriminating videos involving Prajwal Revanna. According to Kumaraswamy, Shivakumar not only facilitated the dissemination of the videos but also spearheaded the establishment of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter further.

Addressing reporters in Hubballi, Kumaraswamy emphasized the need to uncover the truth behind the circulation of the pen drive containing the controversial videos. He questioned Shivakumar’s involvement in the dissemination process and demanded answers regarding the duration of Shivakumar’s awareness of the scandal.

Meanwhile, Shivakumar vehemently denied Kumaraswamy’s allegations, accusing the JD(S) first family of targeting him unfairly. He cited previous instances where he claims to have been singled out by the JD(S) leadership, indicating a longstanding feud between the two factions.

The Karnataka government wasted no time in responding to the scandal, swiftly constituting a three-member SIT, led by Additional Director General of Police B K Singh, to investigate the allegations of sexual harassment against Prajwal Revanna. The investigation follows an FIR filed against Prajwal and his father Revanna at the Holenarasipura police station in Hassan district.

The seriousness of the allegations has not escaped Shivakumar, who emphasized the importance of upholding women’s dignity and ensuring justice for the victims. He expressed concern over the impact of the scandal on numerous families and urged swift action to address the issue.

Shivakumar also criticized BJP leaders for their silence on the Prajwal Revanna case, contrasting their response to other incidents involving women’s safety. He questioned the disparity in the BJP’s reaction, pointing out the swift response to previous incidents compared to their reluctance to address the current scandal.

As the political drama unfolds, all eyes are on the ongoing SIT investigation and the potential ramifications for both Prajwal Revanna and the warring factions within the JD(S) party. The scandal has exposed deep rifts within Karnataka’s political landscape, underscoring the high stakes involved for all parties concerned.
